I can’t believe that I’m typing 2013!  Wow, 2012 sure seems like if flew by.  It was great spending time with a great group of Lions and their significant others at the annual Christmas party!  Thank you to Judy and Marlene for organizing and to Waterford Senior Living and Cindy for hosting a great gathering.

It’s time to hit the ground running in 2013 and make this another great year for the Waterford Lions Club and for the Waterford Community.  District Convention is coming up fast, on January 18th, 19th and 20th.  I encourage everyone who is able to attend the convention this year, even if you can only come for Friday evening or Saturday.  As you all know, we are bidding to host the district bowling tournament in 2013 and the more Waterford Lions we have at the convention, the better our chances to win the bid.  Hosting would not only be a great way to raise funds for our administrative account, but would have a positive impact on the community.  Bringing Lions from all over the district to Waterford is great for Lionism and for our community.  If you’re interested in helping with our bid, please contact Lion Jim Lotzer.

It’s also time to gear up for and start planning our spring and summer events.  The Waterford Home and Commerce Show is coming up fast and I really would like to show attendees what the Waterford Lions do for our community and hopefully recruit some new members.  Bingo starts running twice a month as of January and with Tichigan’s bingo on hold for January and February, we hope to see even bigger crowds.  We also need to begin thinking about scholarships as graduation will be here before we know it.  Then it’s on to our jam packed run through July and August!

We’re certainly a busy club and the more we can do to raise funds, the more we can do to support our community!  Take a look at the committee structure and see where you are already signed up to help or where you could add your time and talents.  If you’re not sure, contact the committee chairs or officers with questions.

Here’s to a Blessed and prosperous new year to all our members, their families and our community.

 Yours in Lionism
