The Waterford Lions Club has had an extremely busy spring and summer this year and one of the things that has suffered for it is the upkeep of our web site.  Keep an eye on the site as we get back in the swing of updating it to reflect what's currently happening with our club and our community.

As I said, we've been busy this year.  We've been raising funds to distribute in our community as well as to support Lions efforts around the state.  We've also been giving back to our community with some great events and special help where it's needed.  Our spring kicked off with the forth annual Waterford Brewfest on May 2nd.  Our guests sampled over 100 craft and micro brews from the US and around the world.  As always, a great time was had by all.  Look for the beer, music, food, prizes and fun to return again in 2015.

Up next was one of our favorite new events; the Lions Picnic in the Park on the first Sunday in June.  This was our second time hosting this event with the Tichigan Lions and we had a blast!  It's our way of giving back to the community that supports our clubs all year with a completely free family event.  Families that came to the park enjoyed games, bouncy houses, crafts, displays, food and drinks; all without any cost, thanks to the Waterford and Tichigan Lions and our great sponsors.  Look for details of the 2015 Lions Picnic in the Park, to be held on the first Sunday of June in Waterford Town Park.

We rolled right into summer with a bang; a Fourth of July bang that is.  Once again, the Waterford Lions treated our community and visitors from all over the surrounding area to one of the best Fourth of July parades you'll find anywhere in the country.  If organizing and presenting the parade wasn't enough, we even gave away $2,000.00 to lucky winners in our famous Duck Raffle.  We would like to give a big thank you to all that came out and especially to those who supported the parade by purchasing Duck Raffle tickets.  Those ticket sales pay for a majority of the parade and it wouldn't be possible without everyone's support.  You can bet that the parade will be back next year, bigger and better than ever; I've even heard rumors that the ducks will once again race on the mighty Fox River in Waterford.  You won't want to miss that!

From the Fourth, it was time to head right over to the Fox River School grounds for he 4th annual Waterford Balloon Festival, where the Waterford Lions were serving our world famous ribeye steak sandwiches.  The weather was perfect and the balloons were spectacular once again this year.  In addition to our food stand, we also ran several sessions of bingo for attendees at the festival on Saturday afternoon.  A good time was definitely had by all and a few even went home with a profit!  Keep and eye on the sky and sniff out our grilled steak sandwiches and roasted corn on the cob again next July.

Bingo at the Balloon Festival was just a warm up for our four day run of bingo at the Racine County Fair, where we had a great time once again this year.  Our crowds were even bigger this year, which allowed us to give away even more money to our lucky winners.  In fact, one young man won over $250.00 in a single 100% payback game that was called by the Fairest of the Fair and Fair Royalty.  Bingo at the fair is quickly becoming one of our favorite events, where we can provide entertainment and interact with a ton of great people in our community.  Look for us in the Bingo Barn again next July.

Even a pride of Lions as strong as ours needs to rest a little every now and then, so we pretty much took the month of August off from our projects.  That doesn't mean that we're done for the year; far from it.  We have the 6th annual Waterford Lions Car Show coming up on Sunday, September 7th at the Cotton Exchange on Hwy's 20 and 83 in Waterford.  Come join us between 8am and 3pm for some great music, food and of course some of the coolest cars around.  It's getting late in the season and you won't have too many more opportunities to cruise this summer.

Of course, it wouldn't be fall in Waterford without the Waterford Lions Annual Chicken BBQ, once again this year partnered with the Waterford Area Chamber of Commerce's annual Fall Harvest Festival.  This year's events will all be held at Whitford Park in Waterford and will include kids activities, vendors, crafters, produce, entertainment and of course, the best darn chicken BBQ around!  We'll be serving from 11am to 6pm (or until we run out of dinners); stop out and have some good fall fun!

Keep an eye out for more Waterford Lions in action in our community!
